In recent years there has only been a few extreme superstars who rise to the ranks of their sport, Lebron James is one of those superstars. LeBron James also realizes that his platform provides him with a very unique opportunity to inspire and motivate millions of individuals worldwide.
He recently announced that he and his business partner Maverick Carter are executive producing a brand new Disney XD special called “Becoming” that will profile the inspirational journeys of some of today’s most popular athletes.
This half-hour show will air on Sunday, Oct. 26, and is in development to become a series. The first episode, filmed in James’s hometown of Akron, Ohio, will spotlight James’s journey from a kid shooting hoops in Akron to a now four-time MVP player in the NBA.
“I’m really excited about helping develop Becoming and bringing this kind of program to kids,” James said in a statement. “Sports and athletes were my inspiration growing up. It was the stories about Michael Jordan, Deion Sanders, and Allen Iverson that kept me dreaming. When I learned that they had some of the same struggles and challenges I did, it made everything seem possible. That’s what Becoming is all about” says Mr.James.
The series, which is also produced in association with ESPN films and James’s Springhill Production Co., is another project added to James’s television resume, as the superstar also has a sitcom called “Survivor’s Remorse airing on Starz”.
