Thato Kgatlhanye is a 21 year-old South African female entrepreneur and co-founder of Repurpose Schoolbags, which is an innovative company that designs school bags made from recycled plastic that integrate solar technology. The school bag charges up during the day and turns into a table lamp at night. The bags enable the children from the poorer parts of African neighborhoods where electricity is very limited to be able to study at night without having to depend on electricity. Repurpose Schoolbags are a genius invention especially in a country that has a demand for it. The charge will hold for 12hours of light power. Thato is confident that her project will raise interest outside South Africa in the future.
