Apple will be starting Apple Music streaming site in about 2-3 months. During that time a trial period of the streaming will take place and Apple once stated they wouldn’t be paying are one during that trial period. Superstar Taylor Swift didn’t like the sound of not being paid during that time. Apple went back to the drawing board and came back with a new idea, “to pay all the artist and the labels” on the site. Apple has currently already signed contracts with several different companies such as Merlin and Beggars group which represent more than 20,000 independent record labels worldwide.
Beggar Group had the following statement: “Over the last few days we have had increasingly fruitful discussions with Apple. We are now delighted to say that we are happy to endorse the deal with Apple Music as it now stands, and look forward to being a big part of a very exciting future.”
Merlin had the following statement: “I am pleased to say that Apple has made a decision to pay for all usage of Apple Music under the free trials on a per-play basis, as well as to modify a number of other terms that members had been communicating directly with Apple about. With these changes, we are happy to support the deal.”
